A father puts his son on the ledge, fifteen feet from he ground. Kid’s about six. The father asks the kid to jump. The kid shakes his head, afraid to make the move. The father tells him not to worry, Daddy’s here and Daddy will catch you. The kid swallows hard, clenches his hands and makes the jump. The father moves out of the way and lets the kid fall to the ground, cuts, bruises, scrapes, what have you. The father bends over and points a finger in the face of his crying boy. And tells him, ‘Remember one thing. In this life, never trust anyone.

This few months are my school holidays. Nothing much has been happening. The highlight so far should be the KL trip that I went together with darling, Winnie, hao, zrul, Kelvin, larry, alex, aaron and Charlie. It was hella fun with the first day shopping around and great food. Too bad I had a little gastric but luckily it was ok later on. The next day, we went up to genting, the weather was unbelievable but what we did there was even more unbelievable. We went bowling, haha. But it was fun with the peeps chilling and fooling around. Then more shopping, more great food back in KL and then we went to break with Giller Battle in their studio. They were quite dope, rather different from the floorskills asia that just took place a couple months back. Think it was quite a learning experience for them such that they have known the difference between breakdancing and bboying. Even though it’s still obvious that they are breakdancers, they are getting down to their tops and footwork. Watching them, I realized that even though the original form of the dance is bboying, but its harder to be a breakdancer with dynamic moves. Their transition from breakdancer to bboy, if it ever happen, would be much more complete than just a bboy. The last day in KL was more shopping and chilling most of the time before heading back to Singapore. The trip was too short for my liking even though it seems that there was nothing to do over there in KL, it was definitely a change of fresh air and environment for all of us, and with great company and great food, I wish it was at least a week long. But heck, I will be looking forward to the next trip with fuyo and ftc.

Just got back my results via sms from NUS, I guess after all the hard work, it did pay off. Compared to the cap of 3.12 of last sem to this sem of 3.87, it took a big jump forward. But still kinda sad that I didnt break into the 4 plus despite all that mugging, but I’m contented for now. Then now, working almost everyday for my dad coz his bangle worker decided to go back home and my dad let him go coz of his bad attitude at work also. So I have to fit into the shoes of a bangla worker for now, hard work it is, I’m glad to be able to take some of that load off my dad’s shoulder.

The other night was the MOS bboy night. It was quite a nice session although my footwork was wack like hell. Got to thank felix for making it happen and thanks for all the encouragement that you have been giving me since floorskills. On the other hand, I have decided to wean off breaking at esplanade. Just plain heartache to have your stuff bitten by people around and people you know, plus I always break for myself and no one else, so nothing wrong with breaking at home, back to the underground. With encouragement of felix in mind, I’m sure practice makes perfect. The only disadvantage being missing the company of all my friends, but I guess I don have much of a choice, just looking forward to all the jams and bboy nights that will be held at MOS and next stage. I just read an interview on Ken Swift by bboyworld. Its sad to know that he is retiring from performing, but even so, I hope he will continue to inspire people like me who believe in him and the culture true at its roots.

Just got another recall letter from police for some training in july for 9 days. This time I felt more at peace when I got wind of this recall. I guess I’m resigned to my fate and this stupid and lousy system that I’ve to be bonded till I’m freaking forty. No choice, who ask me to be Singaporean. Sheesh.

Yesterday went marina south with the peepz and had hella lotsa fun with eating and bowling. Wish there would be more outing of this nature. Till next time, you guys take care.

Be part of the culture. Be a bboy.
